Change your oil and filter and see if that helps. Your oil may be breaking down. It's not possible to change your oil too often. If you're riding in very hot weather, you may want to try using 20-50 oil instead of 10-40.
Many engines make more noise when hot, I've noticed it on my HD too. If you're really concerned, have your mechanic listen to it and get his expert opinion. Try to find a mechanic who is so busy he doesn't need more work and won't perform an unnecessary repair. In my experience, an independent shop is better than a dealership. Unfortunately, I have yet to find an independent in this area who works on "rice grinders".
